Bonfire Scholarship

Texas A&M University established the $50,000 Bonfire Unity Endowed Presidential Scholarship at The University of Texas at Austin.

The scholarship was created to honor the compassion and solidarity UT Austin students and faculty showed following the 1999 bonfire tragedy. On the tragedy's first anniversary in 2000, UT Austin darkened its Tower and displayed orange, white and maroon ribbons in campus trees in remembrance.

Eligible UT Austin undergraduates will meet academic standards, participate in student activities and demonstrate a commitment to the ideals of unity and fellowship reflected in UT Austin's response.

Applications for this scholarship will reopen in Fall 2027.
